REPORTS & DECISIONS

A report should answer a business question.

01

Profitability

P&L with budget and prior-period comparisons. Separate revenue, gross margin and operating-cost movements.

02

Cash visibility

A cash bridge and rolling 13-week outlook, showing collection assumptions and upcoming commitments.

03

Working capital

Customer and supplier ageing, overdue balances and follow-up priorities that reconcile to the ledger.

04

Business drivers

Agreed KPIs such as revenue by service, project margin or utilisation where the source data supports the calculation.

05

Entity reporting

Entity-wise schedules and intercompany reconciliations. Consolidation and currency policies require a separately agreed scope.

06

Management commentary

Explain material movements, flag data limitations and assign an owner and date to each agreed follow-up.

THE MONTHLY ROUTINE

A close calendar everyone understands.

Inputs and preparation

Agree the document cut-off, access to the ledger, budget version, account mappings and outstanding schedules. Reconcile key balances and flag missing information before producing the pack.

Review and discussion

Submit the draft to the nominated reviewer, address comments and record the approved reporting version. Delivery dates follow the agreed close calendar and completeness of inputs.

SEE THE FORMAT

An illustrative pack, with visible assumptions.

Explore a fictional service business with a reconciled P&L, budget comparison, balance sheet, cash movement and working-capital schedules. The figures are synthetic and do not describe any client.

REPORTING BASIS

Management information with clear limitations.

Is an MIS pack an audit or a statutory financial statement?

No. It is management information prepared from the agreed records and assumptions. It does not provide an audit opinion, assurance conclusion or statutory filing approval.

Can reporting be in USD, SGD, GBP or AED?

The reporting currency and any conversion method are agreed for each engagement. Supporting foreign-currency schedules and rates must be documented; a currency label alone is not a conversion.

Can you report from QuickBooks or Zoho Books?

QuickBooks and Zoho Books reporting requirements can be discussed. The report design depends on the configured chart, available data and permissions. Other systems require a capability assessment.

Can MIS be combined with bookkeeping?

Yes. The engagement can combine bookkeeping, month-end preparation and MIS, or cover reporting from records maintained by your own team.
