Where files get reverted
- Product categories chosen in the application not matching the actual business narrative
- Layout plans that are photos of hand sketches
- Water reports older than acceptance windows or from unaccredited labs

Frequently asked questions
I run a cloud kitchen from home — which documents apply?
Usually the basic/state set depending on turnover: ID, photo, premises consent, product list — plus the platform’s own onboarding wants the certificate number. It is lighter than founders fear.
Is a water test needed for a trading-only business?
Typically a manufacturing/processing requirement — pure traders/distributors usually do not need it; the tier and activity decide, not folklore.
Who signs the application for a company?
An authorised signatory backed by board authority — and that authorisation letter belongs in the file, the same discipline as every registration.
Can one licence cover my two kitchens?
Premises-specific credentials are the rule — multiple units usually mean multiple applications, mapped once so nothing operates naked.
What does “reverted” status mean?
The authority wants corrections/clarifications — respond within the window with exactly what is named, or the application lapses and fees repeat.
Do documents differ for repackers/relabellers?
Category nuances exist (declarations about source units, labels) — the product-category selection drives which extras appear; choose categories honestly at filing.
How long is the licence valid — and renewals?
From 1 April 2026 licences and registrations are perpetual; the annual fee must be paid on FoSCoS or the licence is treated as suspended. There is no periodic renewal application, but the annual fee date needs to be calendared.
Rejected outright vs reverted — different responses?
