THE PRACTICE

India-based.
Engagement-led.

Somesh Chandak & Associates is a chartered accountancy firm based in Thane, Maharashtra, serving clients across India. Established in 2022, the practice works with businesses and individuals on accounting, tax, compliance, valuation and finance requirements.

The firm also provides bookkeeping and accounting support for clients in the USA and Dubai. Enquiries from UK and Singapore accounting firms and businesses are assessed for the required capability, local responsibilities and engagement suitability.

Our approach begins with a defined scope: the work to be performed, records required, preparation and review responsibilities, reporting expectations and agreed terms. Engagements may be delivered remotely or in person, as appropriate to the assignment.

OVERSEAS ACCOUNTING & BOOKKEEPING FIRMS

Preparation support.
Your review process.

Bookkeeping and accounting firms can engage the firm for recurring preparation work, overflow support or a separately defined catch-up assignment. The scope can combine bookkeeping, reconciliations, month-end workpapers and MIS preparation.

What a working arrangement should define

  • Agree the entities, reporting periods, software, source records, transaction volume and outstanding backlog before work begins.
  • Prepare an agreed review pack: reconciliations, supporting schedules, exception notes and a documented period-end hand-off.
  • Use the overseas firm's chart of accounts, review checklist and agreed communication arrangements where applicable.
  • Confirm reporting currency, time-zone overlap, document cut-off dates, reviewer availability and delivery expectations.
  • Assign local tax advice, statutory filings, regulated services and sign-off to the appropriately authorised local professional unless a separately permitted engagement is agreed.

QuickBooks and Zoho Books requirements can be discussed. Other software is subject to a capability assessment. Software references describe work requirements and do not imply certification or a vendor partnership.

The firm is based in India. USA and Dubai are existing overseas service markets; UK and Singapore enquiries are considered individually. These references do not indicate overseas office locations.

VIRTUAL CFO & MANAGEMENT REPORTING

Give finance a regular rhythm.

Virtual CFO support gives finance responsibilities a defined cadence and produces information for management decisions. The scope is designed around the business's records, reporting needs and nominated decision-makers.

Monthly management accounts with actual-versus-budget comparisons and explanations of material movements.

Rolling cash-flow forecasts with collection assumptions, payment commitments and funding headroom.

Receivables, payables and working-capital review, with agreed follow-up priorities.

Budget preparation, scenario analysis and business-specific KPIs where the source data supports the calculation.

A close calendar, reporting pack, review meeting and action list with owners and target dates.

Financial schedules and information readiness for lenders, investors or other stakeholders within the agreed scope.

Responsibilities and professional scope

Management retains responsibility for business decisions, payment authority, budgets and approvals. Reporting preparation does not itself provide an audit opinion or assurance conclusion. Independence and any self-review concerns are assessed before accepting work.

INTERNAL AUDIT & GOVERNANCE

From business risk
to an accountable action.

The firm's experience includes internal audit assignments for listed companies.

Internal-audit work connects significant business risks to the processes and controls reviewed. The firm undertakes scope discussions for listed and large private companies as well as other businesses, with eligibility and independence assessed for each engagement.

Define the mandate, entities, locations, review period, reporting line and governance expectations.

Assess the audit universe and prioritise areas using the business's risks, changes and prior findings.

Review agreed processes such as procurement, collections, payroll, inventory, financial close and system access.

Document evidence, exceptions, observations and limitations; discuss the facts with the responsible teams.

Report findings with management responses, action owners, priorities and target dates to the agreed governance body.

Follow up implementation and assess closure evidence; a management status update alone is not proof that a revised control operates.

The scope, evidence and selection approach determine the work performed. Internal audit is distinct from statutory audit and does not replace the statutory audit opinion. The engagement terms identify the recipient, responsibilities, limitations and reporting arrangements.

WORKING TOGETHER

Define the work before it begins.

  1. Understand the requirement

Discuss the entity, country, business activity, present records, reporting need and purpose of the assignment. Identify missing information and any urgent deadlines.

  2. Assess suitability and scope

Review eligibility, independence, conflicts, required professional capacity and delivery capability. Define the deliverables, exclusions, responsibilities, fees and timing in the engagement terms.

  3. Prepare and review the work

Obtain records through agreed arrangements, prepare the schedules or reports and raise exceptions. Confirm the nominated reviewer and address comments before the final hand-off.

  4. Maintain the recurring process

Where work is ongoing, agree a close or compliance calendar, reporting frequency, action tracking and a process for changes in scope or business circumstances.

Confidentiality and access

Agree the information flow alongside the deliverables.

Information is used for the agreed purpose and handled with professional confidentiality. Document and system-access arrangements should be agreed before confidential records are shared.

For recurring and overseas work, agree named-user access, permitted processing, review responsibilities, access removal and the retention or return of records. Specific controls and contractual requirements depend on the engagement.

A first enquiry should contain a short description of the requirement, not passwords, OTPs, bank statements or confidential client records. The website does not establish a professional engagement by itself.
