Last reviewed: 5 September 2026. Most CA job descriptions list ten duties and hide the two numbers that matter — the pay and who actually reviews your work. This one leads with both: ₹8–12 lakh per annum, stated in the advertisement, and every file reviewed by the partner directly. Somesh Chandak & Associates, a Thane (W) firm serving MSMEs, startups and exporters, is hiring one Chartered Accountant — recently qualified or with up to about three years in practice — for a role built around audit, GST and litigation drafting.
What the year actually looks like
This is a portfolio role, not a processing seat. You will carry a set of clients through their full compliance and dispute cycle:
- Audit season: plan and execute statutory and tax audits — sampling, documentation and reporting that survive review, not tick-box files. Tax audit reports before 30 September; audited ITRs by 31 October.
- GST through the year: monthly positions on classification, ITC and reconciliations (GSTR-1/3B, and the 9/9C cycle in December) — and when a position is questioned, you draft the defence of the position you took.
- Litigation drafting: decode the notice, build the factual record, draft the reply, and where it goes further, prepare appeal papers and the representation brief. Writing that holds up is the core skill this role is hired for.
- Finalisation and review: Schedule III financial statements for companies, LLPs and firms, and review of the team's GST, TDS and income-tax filings before anything is released.
- Beyond compliance: valuation workings (DCF, NAV) and Virtual CFO MIS packs for founder clients — exposure a first role rarely offers.
Why this seat is different from a large-firm role
The firm runs on Zoho Books, spreadsheet automation and AI-assisted drafting, so the repetitive layer is thin and the judgement layer is thick. Your reviewer is the partner — a practising CA and IBBI Registered Valuer — not a queue of managers. You see why a position was taken, not only what to file. The trade-off is honest too: it is a work-from-office role in a compact team, and busy season is genuinely busy.
What you bring
- CA Final cleared, membership applied or obtained; articleship exposure to audit and either GST or income-tax proceedings.
- Drafting ability — the technical round includes a notice fact-pattern for exactly this reason.
- Strong Schedule III, income-tax and GST fundamentals; comfort with Zoho Books or Tally and Excel.
- Client-facing English; Hindi/Marathi help with the MSME base.

Frequently asked questions
Is this role open to fresher Chartered Accountants?
Yes. Recently qualified CAs are welcome, as are candidates with up to about three years of post-qualification experience in practice. The package band of ₹8–12 lakh per annum is positioned within that range based on experience and role fit.
What does “litigation” mean at a CA firm — will I appear before authorities?
The core of the work is written: decoding notices, building the factual record, drafting replies under GST and income-tax, and preparing appeal papers and representation briefs. Exposure to hearings and departmental follow-up builds with experience; drafting quality is what the role is hired for on day one.
Is the ₹8–12 lakh package fixed or negotiable?
It is a genuine band, not a headline. Where you land inside it depends on post-qualification experience, articleship exposure to audit and litigation, and drafting ability demonstrated in the interview process.
What is the interview process and how fast is it?
A screening call, a technical round (expect a working question on audit documentation or a notice fact-pattern), and a partner round. Every application receives a reply within 7 working days.
Where is the office and what are the working hours?
Centura Square IT Park, Wagle Estate, Thane West — a short ride from Thane station. General shift, 10:00 am to 7:00 pm IST, Monday to Saturday, work-from-office.
